NLP is all of these things…
NLP is learnings, methods, modeled behavior and techniques. It consists of clear defined processes and steps so we can focus on what we want and achieve long lasting success. Something you’d want, right?
Neuro is the first letter of NLP. This is the physical, mental and emotional components of our neurology which we experience through our five senses:
Linguistic is the second letter of NLP and is the way we use our words or verbal communication along with our nonverbal communication. Some ways that we code our communication are:
Programming the third letter of NLP is the way past events, behaviors and habits affect us. We find out how these programs run in our nervous system. The result is we then know what works and what doesn’t so we can achieve what we want.
NLP trainings, seminars, coaching, communication models and techniques provide different ways for you to change the physical, mental and emotional components of your neurology. NLP does this by finding new ways to build rapport and communicate with your unconscious mind mostly with effect language and mental programming.

When thinking about someone who is excellent at NLP one must have an open mind. Also, it’s important to be curious about new things because that is how you connect with resources inside of you. One of the most important things I learned is we all have magnificence inside of us and that is really what we should aim to attract.
We are able to do this because with NLP we use a specific way of thinking. We do not consider HOW people cannot do something or HOW someone does not get what they want or even how they should not behave or learn. We are interested in HOW someone can do something and HOW they can get what they want. Also, we consider what excellent behaviors they already do and what efficient ways they currently learn. We want to know what excellent things we do so we can install them in different areas of our lives.
In NLP we approach unproductive behaviors and habits and we are curious not why someone does something but HOW they do something. We believe that we have strategies for everything we do. We believe there is no failure and only feedback so we want to know HOW someone does something consistently. We want to know HOW they do it. What we see, hear, feel and tell ourselves.

Be as curious as a young child is. All children are like sponges from the age of 0-7. They accept so many things that they see, hear and feel as true. If as a child you accepted something and still believe it today does that mean you have to hold onto that belief or still feel that way about it. Don’t you think you can be curious enough like you were as a child? Imagine HOW you can soak up new behaviors and habits like a sponge, NOW!
Most of what is learned in NLP comes from the method of modeling. When you hear modeling it is the process of recreating and replicating excellence from others. We can then install this excellence in ourselves as well as groups, teams and organizations. We can model any human behavior because we can master the beliefs, strategies and even the physiology one uses to achieve excellence.
We use theory along with the methods and we can refer to some of these ideas as the presuppositions of NLP. One of them is there is no failure only feedback which we mentioned earlier. Others are respect the other person’s model of the world, behind every behavior is a positive intention and people are doing the best they can with the resources they have. When a person is able to accept the approach, methods and techniques of NLP they go from where they are NOW to where they want to be. The combination of techniques is important to the whole toolbox of NLP because it is another way for us to know HOW someone does something.

Hypnosis
Hypnosis is an everyday experience. We are always in some sort of trance state. This can be a relaxed trance, a happy trance, an angry trance, an energetic trance or a tired trance. You can enter a hypnotic trance when you are driving (more on this in a moment), watching tv or a movie, doing the dishes or other chores, or even when you are waking up or drifting into sleep. Have you ever gone on a drive and out of nowhere realized you were at the destination? This is because your unconscious mind took over because it already knew how to drive and get you to your destination. Have you ever watched a movie and thought this isn’t real, yet you suspend belief and the movie is believable.
Something like this happens every day and this is what hypnosis is. This is where 95% of our functions are. This means that when being induced to a relaxed state your conscious mind has been bypassed.
